Good Friday Walk of Witness: Retford, Nottinghamshire
Archbishop Chris Oliver joined Christians from across the Retford community this Good Friday for the annual Walk of Witness through the streets of Nottinghamshire, and by all accounts it was a day richly blessed.
The Walk, a cherished tradition in which the faithful take their faith visibly into the public square, drew participants of all backgrounds, creating natural and unhurried opportunities for conversation, prayer, and shared worship in the open air. Archbishop Chris reported a wonderful spirit of fellowship throughout the day, with the outdoor setting lending the occasion a sense of openness and accessibility that formal church settings can sometimes struggle to replicate.
What made the day particularly fruitful was the breadth of engagement -- not only with fellow Christians, but with members of the wider public who stopped to ask questions, share thoughts, and simply take notice. These unscripted encounters are often where the most honest and meaningful conversations about faith take place, and Archbishop Chris embraced them fully.
The day also provided a valuable opportunity to speak about the work and witness of the Ancient Apostolic Catholic Church, directing enquirers towards the Church's online presence and the resources available there.
It is a reminder that the proclamation of the Gospel need not always begin behind a pulpit. Sometimes it begins on a cobbled street, on a cold April morning, with a cross and a conversation.
We give thanks for Archbishop Chris and all who walked in witness this Good Friday.
